Iceland: a Paradise for Birdlovers

The Six Rivers Project is a dream destination for ornithologists. We are confident that a journey to our rivers would offer sightings of many different varieties of sea, land and water birds as well as waders.

Here you can find a selection of the birds you would most likely see while fishing our salmon rivers. Many of these birds are ground nesters who lay their eggs in nests on the land beside the rivers. We manage our rivers carefully in order to limit disruption to these birds and their eggs, particularly during nesting season.
